Kufang — Storehouse
In brief
This point is useful for easing feelings of tightness or discomfort in the chest, helping to calm breathing and encourage a sense of openness. It can be used when you feel chest tension or have difficulty taking a deep breath.
Where to find it
In the 1st space between ribs, farther from the torso than the midline.
How to stimulate it (acupressure)
Apply gentle to moderate pressure with your fingertip to the point on the upper chest, approximately four finger-widths on either side of the sternum, in the first intercostal space. Massage in circular motions or apply steady pressure for 1 to 2 minutes. The sensation should be comfortable, perhaps with slight numbness or local warmth, but never sharp pain. You can repeat this self-massage 2 to 3 times a day, or whenever you feel the need.
Other uses
Acupuncture
Depth : 0.3-0.5 cun
The acupuncturist will insert fine needles to a depth of 0.3 to 0.5 cun, using a perpendicular approach. This procedure is performed by a qualified professional to ensure the safety and effectiveness of the treatment.
Effects in traditional Chinese energetics (TCM)
Regulates Lung Qi (vital energy associated with the respiratory system) and directs rebellious Qi downward (energy that rises against its normal flow and causes discomfort such as coughing or chest tightness).
