    In brief

This point is useful for easing feelings of discomfort or blockage in the chest, particularly with difficulty breathing or a mild cough. It may help restore a sense of ease and relaxation in the chest.

    Where to find it

In the 2nd space between ribs, farther from the torso than the midline.

    How to stimulate it (acupressure)

To stimulate this point, apply gentle to moderate pressure with your fingertip to the indicated area. You should feel slight tenderness, but never sharp pain. Hold the pressure for 1 to 2 minutes while breathing calmly and deeply. Repeat 2 to 3 times a day, or whenever you feel the need.

    Depth : 0.5-1 cun perpendiculaire

The acupuncturist may stimulate this point by needling to a depth of 0.5 to 1 cun, perpendicularly. This procedure is reserved for a qualified practitioner due to the thoracic location of the point.

Effects in traditional Chinese energetics (TCM)

This point acts to regulate Lung Qi (the vital energy of the organ associated with breathing) and direct rebellious Qi downward (energy that rises against its normal flow, potentially causing coughing or a feeling of tightness).
