    Yanggu — Yang Valley

    In brief

This point is useful for relieving wrist pain, as well as helping to calm the mind and ease certain heat-related symptoms, such as fever or red eyes. It may be helpful when you feel restless or generally uncomfortable.

    Where to find it

Ulnar side of the wrist, in the depression between the styloid process of the ulna and the triquetrum bone.

    How to stimulate it (acupressure)

Apply moderate pressure with your thumb or index finger, as if pressing a keyboard key. Maintain this pressure for 1 to 2 minutes, making small circular movements or gently pressing and releasing. You should feel a slight sensation of numbness or heaviness, never sharp pain. Repeat 2 to 3 times a day, or whenever needed.

    Other uses

    Acupuncture

    Depth : 0.3-0.5 cun

The acupuncturist can insert a fine needle to a depth of 0.3 to 0.5 cun, generally perpendicularly. This professional procedure allows for precise stimulation of the point.

    Moxibustion

Moxibustion, applied by a practitioner, consists of heating the point using a heat source, such as mugwort. It is generally performed with 3 to 5 cones for gentle and deep thermal stimulation.

This point is known for its ability to clear Heat from the Heart and Small Intestine, thereby helping to calm the Spirit.

Effects in traditional Chinese energetics (TCM)

This point clears Heat (reduces excess internal heat) and calms the Spirit (soothes mental and emotional agitation). It is also a Jing-River point (an important energy point for the circulation of Qi in the limbs) and a Fire point (associated with the Fire element and the ability to clear heat).
