Quze — Marsh at the Bend
In brief
This point at the elbow crease is valued for its support during episodes of discomfort related to heat or stress, such as palpitations or feeling feverish. It may also help ease certain digestive symptoms, such as vomiting.
Where to find it
At the elbow crease, ulnar side of the biceps tendon
How to stimulate it (acupressure)
To stimulate this point, settle into a comfortable position. Find the point in the middle of your elbow crease, on the little-finger side, just beside the main tendon you can feel when bending your arm. Apply moderate pressure with your thumb or a finger, without ever causing sharp pain. You may feel slight numbness or heaviness, which is normal. Maintain pressure for one to two minutes, using small circular movements or steady pressure. Repeat this self-massage two to three times a day, or whenever you feel the need.
Other uses
Acupuncture
Depth : 0.5-1 cun
Needle insertion is performed perpendicularly. This procedure is strictly reserved for a trained practitioner, who will take the necessary precautions to avoid any complications, particularly due to the proximity of the brachial artery.
Bloodletting may also be performed at this point in certain cases, but only by a qualified practitioner.
Effects in traditional Chinese energetics (TCM)
This point clears Heart heat (it helps reduce the sensation of internal heat associated with the cardiac system), calms the mind (it promotes serenity and helps reduce mental restlessness), and harmonizes the Stomach (it supports healthy digestive function).
Contraindications
Take great care when stimulating this point through self-massage to avoid excessive pressure that could cause discomfort. If you consult a practitioner for needling, they should take care not to insert the needle too deeply because of a major artery nearby (the brachial artery).
