    Taichong — Great Rushing

    In brief

Point F3, often called “Great Rushing,” is a key acupressure point located on the foot. It is particularly valued for soothing the head, easing tension and supporting overall well-being, notably by helping to manage feelings of stress or irritability.

    Where to find it

Back or upper side of the foot, in the hollow distal to the junction of the 1st and 2nd metatarsals

    How to stimulate it (acupressure)

To stimulate this point, find the depression on the dorsum of your foot, just proximal to the space between the first and second toes. Apply moderate pressure with your thumb or index finger. The sensation should be firm, but never painful; mild tenderness or slight numbness is normal. Maintain the pressure for one to two minutes on each foot. You can repeat this stimulation two to three times a day, or whenever you feel the need to relax.

    Other uses

    Acupuncture

    Depth : 0.5-1 cun

Acupuncture stimulation is performed by a qualified practitioner, with perpendicular needle insertion to reach a precise depth. This procedure requires in-depth knowledge of anatomy and acupuncture techniques.

Effects in traditional Chinese energetics (TCM)

This point promotes the flow of Liver Qi (vital energy associated with the Liver as a functional organ in TCM), helping to relieve blockages. It also helps calm the Liver (soothing agitation and irritability) and regulate menstruation (the menstrual cycle). It is a Shu-Stream point (an important point for energy flow), an Earth point (associated with stability and grounding) and a Yuan-Source point (a fundamental point for the energy of a meridian).
