    Yingxiang — Welcome Fragrance

    In brief

The Welcome Fragrance point, located near the nose, is used to help relieve nasal concerns such as a blocked nose, rhinitis, or sinusitis. It may also help support the sense of smell and soothe facial pain.

    Where to find it

In the nasolabial groove, at the level of the lower border of the alar cartilage, lateral to the nose

    How to stimulate it (acupressure)

To stimulate this point, place your index fingers on either side of your nose, in the depression just beside the nostrils. Apply gentle to moderate pressure, without ever causing sharp pain, and massage with small circular movements. Massage for one to two minutes on each side, two to three times a day. You may feel mild numbness or local warmth, a sign that the point is being stimulated.

Effects in traditional Chinese energetics (TCM)

It is traditionally used to dispel Wind (external pathogenic factors), open the nose (ease breathing), and clear Heat (reduce inflammation), and is a crossing point of the Large Intestine meridian (associated with elimination) and the Stomach meridian (associated with assimilation).
