Jianyu — Shoulder bone
In brief
This point is known for its role in relieving shoulder tension and pain. It is particularly useful for stiffness or difficulty moving the arm, offering valuable support for greater comfort.
Where to find it
Shoulder, in the anteroinferior depression of the acromion, when the arm is in horizontal abduction
How to stimulate it (acupressure)
A depression then appears just below the acromion, at the front of your shoulder. Apply moderate pressure with your thumb or a finger, moving from light to deeper pressure without ever causing sharp pain. Hold this pressure for one to two minutes while breathing calmly. You should feel a sensation of numbness or slight relaxation. Repeat this two to three times a day, especially when you feel tension in your shoulder. If the pain persists or worsens, please consult a healthcare professional.

Depth : 0.5-1.5 cun oblique vers le bas
The acupuncturist will insert fine needles into this point, typically at a depth of 0.5 to 1.5 cun in an oblique downward direction. This procedure requires precise anatomical knowledge and must be performed only by a qualified practitioner.
Moxibustion
Moxibustion, which involves heating the point with an incandescent mugwort stick, can be applied to this point by a practitioner. This technique aims to provide warmth to relax tissues and promote circulation, and must be performed with caution to avoid burns.
This is a key point for shoulder conditions and can be combined with TR14 for better results.
Effects in traditional Chinese energetics (TCM)
This point works to disperse Wind-Dampness (external pathogenic factors that cause pain and swelling) and promote the flow of Qi (vital energy) in the shoulder (supporting ease of movement and reducing pain).
