    Quchi — Crooked Pool

    In brief

This point, located at the elbow crease, is very useful for relieving various skin conditions such as eczema or urticaria, and may also help regulate digestive issues. It is recognized for its beneficial effect on the body's overall well-being.

    Where to find it

At the elbow crease, halfway between the lateral border of the biceps tendon and the lateral epicondyle, elbow flexed at 90°

    How to stimulate it (acupressure)

To stimulate this point, bend your elbow to 90 degrees. The point is located on the lateral part of the elbow crease, halfway between the tendon visible in the middle of the arm and the prominent bone on the outer side of the elbow. Apply moderate pressure with your thumb or index finger, perpendicular to the skin. Maintain pressure for 1 to 2 minutes, using small circular movements or pressing intermittently. Aim for a sensation of gentle pressure or localized numbness, never sharp pain. You can repeat this stimulation 2 to 3 times a day.

    Other uses

    Acupuncture

    Depth : 1-1,5 cun

The acupuncturist will insert a fine needle perpendicularly to a depth of approximately 1 to 1.5 cun. This procedure is performed by a qualified professional using sterile, single-use needles.

    Moxibustion

Moxibustion, a heat technique involving the burning of mugwort, can be applied to this point to stimulate it. This treatment must be performed by a practitioner to avoid any risk of burns.

This is a major point for dispersing Heat and Dampness, particularly useful for skin conditions and for regulating intestinal function. It is a point associated with immunity.

Effects in traditional Chinese energetics (TCM)

This point clears Heat (excess warm energy), cools the Blood (tempers inflammation), eliminates Wind (relieves itching or spasms), and resolves Dampness (drains stagnant body fluids). It is a He-Sea point (a sea point, influencing the joints and extremities) and an Earth point (an Earth point, for stability and digestion).
