    Guangming — Brightness and Light

    In brief

The Brightness and Light point is particularly useful for caring for your eyes, especially when you experience visual disturbances or tired eyes. It is a key point for restoring a sense of visual clarity and eye comfort.

    Where to find it

Outer side of the lower leg, above the outer ankle bone, on the front edge of the fibula.

    How to stimulate it (acupressure)

Apply gentle to moderate pressure with your thumb or index finger. Maintain the pressure for 1 to 2 minutes, using small circular movements or steady pressure. You should feel slight pressure or local numbness, never sharp pain. You can repeat this stimulation 1 to 2 times a day, or whenever you feel the need.

    For practitioners

    Other uses

    Acupuncture

    Depth : 0.5-1 cun

The acupuncturist can insert a needle perpendicularly to a depth of 0.5 to 1 cun. This procedure must only be performed by a qualified practitioner.

    Moxibustion

The practitioner can apply moxibustion to this point for 10 to 20 minutes. This technique using the heat of mugwort is reserved for professional use.

This is a Luo point, serving as a connection to the Liver organ, which explains its effect on the eyes.

Effects in traditional Chinese energetics (TCM)

This point benefits the eyes (supports eye health), promotes the flow of Qi (vital energy) along the meridian (energy channel), and is a Luo point (a point of connection and regulation between meridians).
