Jingming — Clairvoyance
In brief
Point V1 is known for its beneficial effects on eye health. It may help relieve various eye discomforts, such as visual fatigue, excessive tearing, or irritation, and is often used to improve visual clarity.
Where to find it
Above the inner corner of the eye, near the inner rim of the eye socket
How to stimulate it (acupressure)
To stimulate this point, apply gentle, steady pressure with the tip of your index finger, just above the inner corner of the eye, near the orbital rim. Press for 1 to 2 minutes per eye, without rubbing, keeping the pressure light to moderate and never causing sharp pain. You should feel a slight sensation of pressure. Repeat 2 to 3 times a day, or whenever needed.
Other uses
Acupuncture
Depth : 0.1-0.3 cun
The puncture of this point is performed by a professional, with a needle inserted obliquely to a depth of 0.1 to 0.3 cun. It is essential not to rotate the needle and to proceed with the utmost caution given the sensitive area.
This point is delicate because of its proximity to the eye. It is essential to avoid any abrupt manipulation.
Effects in traditional Chinese energetics (TCM)
This point acts to disperse Wind (eliminate external pathogens), clear Heat (reduce inflammation or excess heat in the area), and benefit the eyes (improve visual function and relieve eye conditions).
Contraindications
Avoid using moxibustion (heat) on this point because of its location near the eye. Apply only very superficial pressure.
