    Fengmen — Wind Gate

    In brief

Point V12, also called Wind Gate, is located in the upper back. It is often used to help relieve stiffness in the neck and shoulders, and may be helpful at the onset of a cold or a feeling of chilliness.

    Where to find it

lateral to the lower edge of the spinal projection of the 2nd thoracic vertebra (T2).

    How to stimulate it (acupressure)

To stimulate this point, place your thumbs or index fingers on either side of the spine, at the level of the 2nd thoracic vertebra (approximately at shoulder blade height). Apply moderate pressure, neither too firm nor too light, to produce a slight sensation of warmth or mild numbness. Hold this pressure for 1 to 2 minutes. You can repeat this self-massage 2 to 3 times a day, especially if you feel tension or begin to feel chilly.
