Dubi — Calf's Nose
In brief
This point is useful for relieving knee pain, particularly pain experienced after exertion or due to osteoarthritis. It may help restore comfort and flexibility in this essential joint.
Where to find it
Front side of the knee, in the depression beside the patellar ligament, knee flexed.
How to stimulate it (acupressure)
To stimulate this point, bend your knee slightly. The point is on the lateral aspect of the knee, in the depression just below the patella and beside the patellar ligament. Apply moderate pressure with your thumb or a finger, using small circular movements or steady pressure. The sensation should be firm but never painful; slight numbness or heaviness is normal. Maintain pressure for 1 to 2 minutes per knee. You can repeat this stimulation 2 to 3 times a day.
Other uses
Acupuncture
Depth : 0.5-1 cun perpendiculaire
The acupuncturist may insert a sterile needle to a depth of 0.5 to 1 cun, perpendicular to the skin. This technique aims to precisely stimulate the point for a targeted therapeutic effect, always respecting hygiene and safety protocols.
Moxibustion
The practitioner may apply moxibustion to this point for 10 to 30 minutes. This involves heating the point using a glowing mugwort stick, without direct contact with the skin, to provide a gentle and penetrating warmth that promotes circulation.
This point is very effective for dispelling Wind-Dampness and specifically relieving knee pain, particularly pain related to osteoarthritis or trauma.
Effects in traditional Chinese energetics (TCM)
This point "moves Qi" (vital energy) in the Stomach meridian, "invigorates Blood" (improves microcirculation) and "benefits the knee" (acts specifically on this joint).
