Point Jing (River) / Point Metal

    Jingqu — Metal Vessel

    In brief

This point is useful for relieving discomfort associated with coughing, asthma, and sore throats. It may also help soothe wrist pain and a sensation of warmth in the palm of the hand.

    Where to find it

above the wrist crease, in the radial groove, where the pulse is felt

    How to stimulate it (acupressure)

To stimulate this point, place your thumb or a finger on the area about 2.5 cm above your wrist crease, on the thumb side, in the depression where you feel the pulse. Apply moderate pressure, enough to feel a slight sensation without causing pain. Massage using circular movements or gentle, steady pressure for 1 to 2 minutes. You can repeat this self-massage 2 to 3 times a day, or whenever you feel the need.

    For practitioners

    Other uses

    Acupuncture

    Depth : 0.3-0.5 cun

Needling at this point is performed perpendicularly, taking care to avoid the radial artery. This procedure is strictly reserved for the practitioner.

    Moxibustion

Moxibustion at this point is a warming technique using mugwort heat. It must be performed by a trained practitioner to ensure safety and effectiveness.

This point is traditionally used to tonify the Lung and help descend rebellious Qi.

Effects in traditional Chinese energetics (TCM)

This point helps regulate and descend Lung Qi (vital energy of the Lung as a functional organ), clear heat (dispel a sensation of excess heat), and is a Jing-River point (a key point on the meridian, often used for conditions affecting the organ) as well as a Metal point (linked to the Metal element, to which the Lung belongs).
