    Kongzui — Maximum Opening

    In brief

This point is useful for sudden coughing, a sore throat, an asthma attack, or arm pain. It is often used for acute symptoms to provide rapid relief.

    Where to find it

Antero-lateral side of the forearm, above the wrist crease, on the line from P5 to P9

    How to stimulate it (acupressure)

To stimulate this point, apply firm pressure with your thumb or a finger to the indicated area. Massage using circular movements or alternating pressure and release for 1 to 2 minutes. The sensation should be one of light pressure or numbness, without ever causing sharp pain. You can repeat this self-massage 2 to 3 times a day, particularly when symptoms occur, taking care not to aggravate any existing inflammation.

Effects in traditional Chinese energetics (TCM)

This point acts to dispel Wind (external pathogenic factors responsible for acute disorders) and clear Heat (inflammation, fever), as well as to promote the flow of Qi (vital energy) in the Lung meridian (energy channel). It is a Xi-Cleft point (a point for urgent use and rapid action) of the Lung.
