Shuigou (Renzhong) — Water Trough (Human Center)
In brief
This point is well known for its role in emergency situations, particularly in cases of loss of consciousness. It is used to help restore consciousness and calm certain disturbances.
Where to find it
Upper 1/3 of the groove below the nose (philtrum)
How to stimulate it (acupressure)
To stimulate it, apply firm, steady pressure with the tip of your thumb or index finger. Maintain this pressure for 1 to 2 minutes, or until the person shows signs of improvement. The expected sensation is strong pressure, sometimes slightly painful, but never unbearable. In cases of loss of consciousness, do not hesitate to seek medical help at the same time.
