Shendao — Path of the Spirit

    In brief

This point is traditionally used to help calm the mind during episodes of anxiety or palpitations, and may also ease certain types of back pain. It is a key point for restoring a sense of well-being and serenity.

    Where to find it

Hollow below the T5 spinous process.

    How to stimulate it (acupressure)

To stimulate this point, press with your fingertip or thumb on the depression just below the spinous process of the fifth thoracic vertebra (T5), generally between the shoulder blades. Apply moderate pressure, enough to feel a mild sensation without sharp pain. Hold this pressure for one to two minutes while breathing calmly. You can repeat this practice two to three times a day, particularly when you feel the need to calm yourself or ease tension in your back.
