    Zhongji — Utmost Center Point

    In brief

This point is very useful for relieving a wide range of urinary and gynecological discomforts. It is particularly recommended for urinary discomfort, menstrual pain, or support with fertility concerns.

    Where to find it

    below belly button, above RM2

    How to stimulate it (acupressure)

To stimulate this point, apply gentle to moderate pressure with one or two fingers, just above the pubic bone, approximately one palm's width below the navel. Massage the area using circular movements or steady pressure. Maintain pressure for 1 to 2 minutes. The sensation should be comfortable; you may feel slight warmth or numbness. It is advisable to repeat this massage 2 to 3 times a day. For greater comfort, it is best to avoid stimulating this point immediately after urinating or when the bladder is full.

    Depth : 0.5-1.5 cun perpendiculaire

The needling of this point must be performed by a qualified acupuncture practitioner. It is generally performed at a depth of 0.5 to 1.5 cun, taking care not to puncture the bladder, especially if it is full.

    Moxibustion

Moxibustion (the application of heat using a mugwort stick) is a very effective technique on this point, often used to strengthen its effects, particularly for issues related to Cold or Deficiency. This procedure is performed by a practitioner for reasons of safety and efficacy.

This is a major point for genitourinary and gynecological disorders, often used as the Mu point of the Bladder. Its action is significant in infertility and uterine conditions.

Effects in traditional Chinese energetics (TCM)

It acts on the Qi (vital energy) of the Bladder to help regulate its function, resolves Damp-Heat (a type of energetic imbalance), and benefits the uterus. It is a Mu point (alarm point) of the Bladder, meaning that it acts directly on this organ.

    Contraindications

For greater comfort and to avoid any discomfort, it is recommended not to stimulate this point when the bladder is full.
