Indications
How to stimulate it (acupressure)
To stimulate this point, apply moderate pressure with your fingertip to the area three finger-widths on either side of the spine, at the level of the 11th thoracic vertebra (approximately just below the inferior angle of the scapula). Massage using small circular movements or sustained pressure for 1 to 2 minutes. The sensation should be mild pressure or numbness, never sharp pain. You can repeat this stimulation 2 to 3 times a day, particularly when experiencing discomfort.
Other uses
Acupuncture
Depth : 0.5-1 cun
The acupuncturist may insert a needle 0.5 to 1 cun (approximately 1 to 3 cm) in depth, using an oblique insertion. This procedure is performed by a trained professional using sterile, single-use needles.
Moxibustion
Moxibustion (the application of heat via a burning mugwort stick near the skin) may be used by a practitioner to reinforce the point's effect, particularly in cases of deficiency or cold. This technique requires expertise to avoid any risk of burns.
This point is traditionally associated with the function of the Spleen-Pancreas.
Effects in traditional Chinese energetics (TCM)
This point is known for tonifying the Spleen (supporting the energy of the main digestive organ) and resolving dampness (helping to clear fluid accumulation and a feeling of heaviness).
