Yangxi — Yang Valley
In brief
This point is useful for relieving various types of pain, particularly wrist pain, as well as headaches and some eye discomfort. Stimulating it may be helpful when these areas feel hot or tense.
Where to find it
In the anatomical snuffbox, at the dorsal wrist crease, between the tendons of the extensor pollicis longus and extensor pollicis brevis
How to stimulate it (acupressure)
To stimulate this point, place your thumb in the hollow on the back of the wrist at the base of the thumb, which becomes visible when you extend your thumb upward (the 'anatomical snuffbox'). Apply moderate pressure with your thumb without hurting yourself. You should feel a sensation of pressure, sometimes slight numbness, but never sharp pain. Hold this pressure for 1 to 2 minutes. You can repeat this self-massage 2 to 3 times a day, particularly when you feel tension or pain.
