Jianqian — Front of the shoulder
In brief
This point is useful for relieving shoulder pain and stiffness, particularly when it is difficult to move the arm. It helps restore flexibility and greater comfort in everyday movements.
Where to find it
Midpoint between the anterior axillary fold and LI-15
How to stimulate it (acupressure)
To stimulate this point, locate it halfway between the anterior axillary fold (the front fold of your armpit) and the tip of your acromion (the bony tip of your shoulder). Apply moderate pressure with your thumb or another finger for one to two minutes. You should feel comfortable pressure, perhaps with a little numbness, but never sharp pain. Repeat this self-massage two to three times a day, particularly when you feel shoulder discomfort.
Other uses
Acupuncture
Depth : 1-1.5 cun perpendiculaire
This point can be needled in acupuncture by a qualified practitioner, with a perpendicular insertion. The procedure is performed with precision by a professional.
Effects in traditional Chinese energetics (TCM)
This extra point activates the collaterals (secondary channels that connect the main meridians and nourish the tissues) and relaxes the shoulder (relieves muscular and joint tension in the shoulder).
