Sifeng — Four Seams
In brief
This point is traditionally used to help children digest better and support their vitality, particularly when weakness is associated with poor nutrient absorption or intestinal worms.
Where to find it
Centre of the flexion creases of the PIP joints of the 4 fingers (excluding thumb)
How to stimulate it (acupressure)
To stimulate this point, gently press the center of the crease of the proximal interphalangeal joint of each of the four fingers (excluding the thumb). Use light to moderate pressure, enough to feel a subtle sensation, but never sharp pain. Hold the pressure for 30 seconds to 1 minute on each finger. You can massage the points on both hands. This technique can be repeated 2 to 3 times a day, particularly before meals if the aim is to improve digestion.
Effects in traditional Chinese energetics (TCM)
This point acts to disperse accumulations (improves digestion and elimination) and eliminate worms (antiparasitic action).
