Neihuaijian — Tip of the medial malleolus

    In brief

This point is useful for easing ankle pain, such as pain experienced after a sprain. It may also offer comfort in cases of toothache or tonsillitis.

    Where to find it

    Inner ankle bone

    How to stimulate it (acupressure)

To stimulate this point, press with your thumb or index finger directly on the bony tip of the medial malleolus (the bump on the inside of your ankle). Apply moderate pressure without causing sharp pain, and hold for one to two minutes. You should feel a slight sensation of numbness or local pressure. Repeat this self-massage two to three times a day, or as needed.
