Yintang — Hall of the Seal

    In brief

This point is useful for soothing the mind and promoting relaxation. It may help restore a sense of calm during restlessness, anxiety or difficulty falling asleep, while also offering relief from nasal discomfort.

    Where to find it

On the anterior midline (Governing Vessel), between the eyebrows, at the center of the glabella.

    How to stimulate it (acupressure)

To stimulate this point, apply gentle to moderate pressure with your fingertip at the midpoint between your eyebrows. Hold this pressure for one to two minutes, making small circular movements if you wish. Aim for a mild sense of calm or gentle relaxation, without any pain. This self-massage is recommended two to three times a day, or as needed, for example before bed or during times of stress. If symptoms persist or worsen, it is important to consult a healthcare professional.

    Depth : 0,3-0,5 cun

The practitioner may perform a subcutaneous puncture of 0.3 to 0.5 cun, perpendicularly toward the root of the nose, or obliquely/transversely in the direction of BL-2. This procedure is reserved for Chinese medicine professionals.

This extra point is very frequently used for its effects on the mind and nose.

Effects in traditional Chinese energetics (TCM)

This point calms the Mind (consciousness and emotional state), benefits the nose (for respiratory issues such as congestion) and calms internal Wind (involuntary movements or dizziness). It also opens the meridian (the energy channel) and relieves pain.
