Xialiao — Lower opening of the foramina

    In brief

This point is useful for relieving pain in the lower back and pelvic region. It may also help with digestive issues such as diarrhea or constipation, and with urinary difficulties.

    Where to find it

    4th posterior sacral foramen

    How to stimulate it (acupressure)

To stimulate this point, apply firm pressure with your thumb or a finger to the lower back, at the fourth posterior sacral foramen (a small depression just above the intergluteal cleft). The sensation should be one of deep pressure without pain. Massage the point using circular movements or steady pressure for 1 to 2 minutes. You can repeat this self-massage 2 to 3 times a day, or as needed.
