    Xuehai — Sea of Blood

    In brief

This point is useful for relieving certain types of menstrual discomfort, as well as soothing skin conditions such as eczema, urticaria or itching. It is also of interest because it may offer relief from knee problems.

    Where to find it

Inner side of the thigh, above the upper border of the kneecap.

    How to stimulate it (acupressure)

Apply moderate pressure with your thumb or index finger, using small circular movements. Maintain the pressure for 1 to 2 minutes. The expected sensation is slight numbness or gentle warmth, never sharp pain. If pain occurs, reduce the pressure. You can repeat this self-massage 2 to 3 times a day. If symptoms persist or worsen, consulting a healthcare professional is recommended.

    For practitioners

    Other uses

    Moxibustion

Moxibustion involves heating the point using a glowing mugwort stick, generally for 10 to 20 minutes. This procedure, performed by the practitioner, is used to stimulate the point by providing a gentle and penetrating heat.

This point is considered a major point for Blood-related imbalances and is often used to cool the blood and treat various dermatological problems.

Effects in traditional Chinese energetics (TCM)

This point is traditionally used to regulate Blood (blood fluidity and volume), harmonize Blood, clear Blood Heat (reduce inflammation or burning sensations) and tonify the Spleen (strengthen digestive functions and Blood production).
